Lack of innovation
Topic of this content: How to improve the lack of innovation

In the third text of this month, we will address the lack of innovation, one of the factors that can contribute to the failure to understand customer needs in organizations.
By lack of innovation, we understand that it is an organizational culture that does not prioritize or does not encourage innovation, which leads to and is unable to adapt products and services to meet the needs - which are constantly changing - of its customers.
One of the consequences of not satisfying these needs is a loss of market share, because customers may turn to competing organizations that offer better solutions.
"Learning and innovation go hand in hand. The arrogance of success is to think that what you did yesterday will be sufficient for tomorrow." –William Pollard
A possible solution could involve organizing workshops or hackathons, focusing on innovation around customer needs. To make them as comprehensive as possible, the organization can encourage participation from different departments, which allows for more diverse perspectives to be formulated and debated.
This type of approach can, however, face a very significant obstacle when the focus is on the short term. Organizations that focus almost exclusively on short-term gains may neglect the importance of understanding and adapting to the long-term needs and trends of their customers.
If there is alignment between the proposed solution and, if the organization has a medium and long-term vision, this better understanding of its customers' needs can lead to the development of better targeted products and services, which boosts its sales, whether to existing customers or through additional sales or cross-selling opportunities, contributing to increasing its revenues and profitability.
Author's note: this text expresses a personal perspective framed within some parameters, it is not a scientific article, of a medical, prescriptive or binding nature. It is also important to note that it was not intended to be an exhaustive analysis, in the future there will be new texts that will address other ways of looking at these same topics.
