Lack of clear priorities

In this third text on this month's topic (overcommitment), we will look at another factor that may contribute to this overcommitment; the lack of clear priorities.
Without clear personal or professional priorities, people may feel it is difficult to discern which commitments are most important, leading to an overly extensive schedule.
As a result, this leads to poor performance because, with attention divided between many tasks, the quality of work on each task decreases, leading to errors, missed deadlines and below-average performance.
"Desires dictate our priorities, priorities shape our choices, and choices determine our actions." – Dallin H. Oaks
A possible solution is to prioritize tasks and commitments, which involves evaluating all current and potential commitments based on their importance and urgency. There are several tools to categorize tasks and focus on what really matters.
However, it is important to be aware of the existence of unclear goals, as they can lead to the assumption of tasks and commitments that may not be aligned with your priorities or long-term goals.
If there is careful attention to managing overcommitment,
there are productivity gains, because it is possible to focus on fewer tasks,
which allows more dedicated attention to each one, increasing the quality of
work and overall productivity.
Author's note: this text expresses a personal perspective framed within some parameters, it is not a scientific article, of a medical, prescriptive or binding nature. It is also important to note that it was not intended to be an exhaustive analysis, in the future there will be new texts that will address other ways of looking at these same topics.
